AstroLens is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we handle information in our application to provide you with the best stargazing experience.

1. Data Processing Architecture

AstroLens is designed with a Privacy-First philosophy. Most data processing—including celestial calculations, image stacking, and AI-based star identification—happens entirely on your device.

However, to provide real-time sky conditions, certain information is transmitted to third-party providers as described below. We do not sell or monetize your data.

2. Information We Use

A. Location Data (Approximate and Precise)

Purpose: To calculate accurate celestial coordinates and to provide local weather/sky condition updates.
Processing: Your coordinates are processed locally for star mapping. To fetch weather data, your latitude and longitude are transmitted to Open-Meteo (our third-party weather provider).
Sharing: We share only the necessary coordinates with Open-Meteo. No other personal identifiers are attached to this request.

B. Camera Data

Purpose: To provide the Augmented Reality (AR) sky overlay and to capture photos of the night sky.
Processing: Video frames are processed in real-time on-device for star detection. No camera data or images are ever uploaded to our servers or third-party AI providers.

C. Storage Access

Purpose: To save your captured astrophotography images directly to your device's gallery.

3. Third-Party Services

AstroLens utilizes Open-Meteo for atmospheric data. When the app fetches weather, your IP address and location coordinates may be visible to their servers. We do not include any hidden tracking SDKs, advertising platforms, or analytics (such as Google Analytics or Firebase).

4. Data Retention and Deletion

We do not store your personal data or location history on any external database. Because all such data is ephemeral or stored locally on your device, you can delete all app-related data by clearing the app cache or uninstalling AstroLens.
